Winter 2017-18: looking ahead

There has been a brief absence of ride reports posted since the weather turned colder, wetter and windier and that’s not because Skipton CC members haven’t been out. Normal service has now been resumed so look out for regular write ups of what we have been doing and check out what is planned in our Events posts on Facebook. Of course there is much more of the winter left which may have an impact on activity. Apart from the few occasions that snow and icy conditions made cycling too risky, club rides continued on Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays albeit with smaller numbers involved. Although last weekend (13th and 14th Jan) enthusiasm for getting out saw 20 riders on the Saturday club rides. Thoughts are turning to the kinder weather that lies ahead and recalling what it feels like to get out in shorts rather than bib longs, thermal layers and all manner of jackets and capes allied with the perennial problems of keeping feet and hands from freezing. We are looking forward to running the 5th Le Petit Depart in June and individuals are beginning to identify which sportives they might challenge themselves to do in 2018.
