Ride London 2017 SCC Team

The Ride London Club Challenge is running again this year. Entries open on the 27th February (although they don’t mention when they close!). Event is on Sunday 30th July 2017. You’ll need to be available on Saturday the 29th to sign-on.

It’s slightly different this year. We are NOT guaranteed a team entry. Full details (what there is) are on the Ride London site.

Teams are either mixed (2 men, 2 women) or just 4 men or 4 women. Last year we had 2 teams in, but we struggled to fill both teams, 1 team reaching the start incomplete. This year I think it best we just put forward 1 team, but we’ll see what the interest is.

Entry is £69. You’ll get an email about paying if/when the entry is accepted. You MUST be an SCC member and a British Cycling member to enter. Preference will be given to those who did not get a place on the team entry last year. Register via the button below by 27th February (yes, you’ve only got a few days).

What Chris and SMART Performance Coaching are about!

Chris has been in the sport of cycling for numerous years, both competing and coaching all over the UK and abroad. He has a keen eye for detail and is easily approachable, which makes him the ideal coach to come to and trust as he has that personal experience of setbacks, time constraints, overcoming illness barriers and many other factors which speaks volumes! He is looking to help every cyclist out there, from novice to elite by making every single training aid accessible to them via his fitness lab at a competitive price. He has thought of everything a cyclist would need in order to improve their performance, such as structured individual training programmes, nutritional supplements and guidance, strength and conditioning, altitude training, power profiling, lactate testing and much much more!

Skipton Cyclocross 2016 – Volunteers needed

SCC are proud to once again be hosting the first round of the Yorkshire Cyclocross Association Winter Series. The event will be in Aireville Park on Sunday 4th September and will include races for all ages and abilities.

The event was a huge success last year, due in no small part to the support from SCC, turning out in great numbers on the Saturday and Sunday to help with the event set up. We’d like to match that this year and need a show of hands for volunteers for the following jobs:

  • Saturday 3rd September: Course setup in Aireville Park
  • Sunday 4th September: Sign-on, Marshalling, Course take-down

As always, many hand will make light work. If you can spare any time either day, it would be greatly appreciated and add to the reputation we gained for last year’s event. Register to help by clicking the button below. Any questions drop Stephen Hannigan an email at sjhannigan@gmail.com.

Le Petit Depart 2016 – Volunteers Needed

Sunday 5th June is the 2016 Le Petit Depart. Skipton Cycling Club needs your help.

Le Petit Depart has proved to be an enormous success, not just because of the super route through amazing countryside but due to the exceptional support from our club members. Past entrants have commented on the friendly, helpful and well organised people who give up their time to drive the event and make it such a success.

This year’s event is less than 2 months away!. We need get all of our volunteers organised as soon as possible.

There are many roles to play before and during Le Petit Depart, if you can help in any way then please click the button below. Any questions please contact Gareth Evans on Facebook or by email at gareth410@btinternet.com.

Summer Classic Kit Special Order – Closes 4th April

Ready for the summer we’ve got a special order going in for the Skipton Cycling Club Classic Kit. This is a new take on the classic white design, re-created with the help of Ed at Milltag. The design has been simplified, cleaned up and is looking great.

Note: the bibs will have the Skipton Cycling Club text on the bum, not the white ram as pictured on the Milltag site.

Milltag sizing is pretty spot on (similar to Castelli). I’m 6ft, 74kg and wear a large jersey and shorts which are a snug fit. If you need to exchange unused kit for a different size, we may be able to swap with stock kit (depending on what we have available).

For those of you racing this summer, we’ve also got an order going in for SCC racing skin suits. Perfect for cyclocross, road racing and time trials. Look the part and save a few watts to boot!

Youth Kit: SCC subsidises youth kit by 50%. Email simonl@skiptoncyclingclub.org.uk with what kit you need and we’ll get it added to the order.

Closing date is 4th April, delivery will take approx 5 weeks. Order direct from the Milltag SCC site, payment by PayPal.

Ride London 100 SCC Team Entries 2016

Another year, another Ride London. It was by all accounts a great event last year. We had a team last year, so should get one this year (although they are not guaranteeing that this year). I’ve put in a request for 1 men’s team and 1 mixed team, the men’s team is 4 men, the mixed team is 2 men and 2 women.

To give everyone a chance who may be interested, if you want to be part of the SCC team entry please email simonl@skiptoncyclingclub.org.uk by the 21st March. Specify if you are happy to be part of the men’s or the mixed team, or if you’re not bothered either way.

Preference will be given to those who were not part of the team entry last year. We will find out if we got our team entries on the 21st March. If we have more riders than spaces, we’ll pick names out of a hat. First ones drawn will get the entries, the rest will go onto a waiting list in the order drawn.

The event costs £58, and payment will be due by the 8th April. You must be an Skipton Cycling Club member and a British Cycling member to be part of the SCC team entry.

Last year we struggled to actually get a team of 4 together, so there is a very good chance that if you want to ride, you will get to.

SCC Mud Flaps for sale

The Skipton Cycling Club mud flap is ready to order. The mud flap almost reaches the floor so provides excellent protection for those behind, along with looking great.

Comes with 2 push fit fixings, washers and full fitting instructions. Fixings are are pretty low profile, so shouldn’t rub on your tyre. You’ll need a drill and a 4.5mm drill bit (plus a set of mud guards to fit it to of course). It takes about 30 minutes to fit.

£8.50 posted to your door. Delivery within 4 days. Only 20 available!

Fitting the mud flap

Mine is all nicely fitted, so if you’re riding behind me you’ll no longer be splattered with cow poo. I took some picture in the process which might be useful when you’re fitting yours.
